The PCFA resident mentoring program began in 2017, in response to resident interest -- first at NPI, and then at each of the UCLA psychiatry residency programs. The program is strictly elective for residents, and is designed to meet the level of intensity that residents prefer.

Any interested resident emails the program coordinator (trblair@mednet.ucla.edu), and completes a brief questionnaire used for optimizing matches with PCFA members. Mentors are asked to check in with residents monthly, but actually meeting (remotely or in person) is driven by resident interest. Mentoring focuses on both professional and personal interests, again with extensive resident input.

All interns receive an invitation to the program, but matches are available on a rolling basis to any interested resident. As of July, 2022, 66 residents have availed themselves of the program, including 28 active pairs.
