Jonathan Salk, MD, will be preesnting Integrating Psychopharmacology, Psychotherapy and Development: The Joy of Psychiatry

Course Description: This presentation is part of the Psychiatric Clinical Faculty Association’s (PCFA) annual Distinguished Psychiatrist Seminar Series. Admission is free to all mental health professionals. An RSVP is requested but not required.

Presenter: Dr. Salk is Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. He is currently in full-time private practice, but also lectures, writes and teaches the theory and practice of psychiatry. He has a particular interest in the effects of experience and trauma on human development. Dr. Salk is Senior Fellow of the Design Futures Council and a member of the Advisory Board of the Population Media Center. He is also the author of A New Reality: Human Evolution for a Sustainable Future, an updated, revised and redesigned version of the 1981 book of that title that he wrote with his father, Jonas Salk.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To understand a multi-factorial model of causation of symptoms.

  2. To use a multimodal or integrative approach in treatment of patients and families.

  3. To identify the joy and satisfaction of informed, integrative intervention and positive outcome in patient care.

Target Audience: Open to all mental-health and medical professionals.

Continuing Education/Continuing Medical Education:
This activity offers 2 hours of Continuing Education credits.

CMA:  The Psychiatric Clinical Faculty Association (PCFA) is accredited by the California Medical Association (CMA) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the CMA. PCFA designates this activity for a maximum of 2 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This lecture meets the qualifications for 2 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCS and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
